• Again, you can mitigate concerns about damage by having the mirrors stop short of the floor.

Once you’ve decided to add a mirrored wall to a particular room, it’s time to choose its precise placement. Here are factors to consider as you choose a wall:

• Glaziers can typically work around some dips and ridges in a wall by using shims and spacers. However, if a wall has significant ridges, know that this will impact the look of the finished project because, when viewed from the side, there may be a gap between the mirror and the wall. Therefore, it is ideal to choose a wall that is relatively even across its surface.
• Some walls in the room probably have fixtures already in place like outlets, light switches, or even wall sconces. These can be accommodated through the addition of cut-outs in the mirror glass. This does add to the price point, though, so it’s something to be aware of.
• If you want to maximize the effects of sunlight coming in through a particular window, have the mirrors installed on a wall perpendicular to it. (If the mirrored wall is directly across from the window, it will bounce the light back out.)
